Kentucky Early Childhood
Data System (KEDS)

KEDS was designed to gather statewide data from First Steps, State-Funded Preschool, and private child care programs while allowing teachers and providers to focus on implementing high-quality assessments that provide feedback to improve instruction and support positive outcomes for young children. 

What We Do

PROGRESS
MONITORING

We help the state track the developmental progress of young children enrolled in their programs.

ASSESSMENT
SUPPORT

We help teachers use appropriate assessments to monitor children's learning and skill development.

REPORT DEVELOPMENT

We help state administrators complete the federal reporting requirements for IDEA on child outcomes.

How We Do It

ASSESSMENTS

Providers and teachers  observe children and complete assessments using approved tools. 

DATA

COLLECTION

Assessment and demographic data are collected through the KEDS Online Portal and publisher systems.

ANALYSES &

REPORTING

Analyses are conducted and results shared through reports with state, regional and district administrators.
